Split rail fencing is a popular choice for our Maryland and Delaware customers seeking an affordable, low-maintenance, and rustic aesthetic. It’s especially well-suited for larger properties like farms or estates, where it can define boundaries or contain animals without blocking off the surroundings. With its open, airy design, split rail fences offer a natural, charming look that blends well with both suburban and rural landscapes. Additionally, split rail fences are durable, require little upkeep compared to other fence types.
Homeowners in Arnold, Maryland entrusted Fence & Deck Connection with redesigning a safe and sturdy enclosure for their spacious backyard. With the help of Project Consultant Jake Wolod and the rest of the Fence & Deck Connection team, our customers have a new backyard enclosed with well-crafted split rail wood fencing.
BEFORE:

We first removed nearly 300 feet of existing wood fencing before installing a new style of wood fencing that better suited the family’s design preferences and needs. Our hardworking in stallion crew installed 435′ of 4′ tall 3-rail split rail fencing complete with black wire mesh. To better enclose the spacious yard, we also installed one 10′ wide double gate and two 3′ wide arched walk gates.
Adding wire mesh to a split rail fence enhances its functionality by providing increased security and better containment for small children and animals. The mesh also adds durability, protecting the fence from damage and reducing the risk of animals pushing through. This addition is a cost-effective way to improve the fence’s effectiveness without obstructing the view or compromising its rustic appearance!
