At Fence & Deck Connection, we love helping homeowners in the Mid-Atlantic transform their outdoor living spaces, especially homes with a “clean slate,” and this recent project is no exception! Our client in one of Pennsylvania’s new builder communities was ready to add a much needed outdoor addition to complete the home with a a sleek, stylish, and low-maintenance deck. Project Consultant Tom Reese worked with customers to design a deck that matched the look of the home and their own personal style. The end result is a stunning deck with plenty of of personality!
Before:

Design & Layout
Facing the rear of the home, this new deck begins 1 foot from the right rear corner, expanding into a spacious 12′ x 20′ platform — ideal for entertaining, grilling, or just soaking up some sunshine. To provide convenient access from the yard, we installed a centered 4′ x 5′ landing with clean, structured steps leading down. To support this structure, we used upset beams for a raised, polished look and long-lasting durability. With 260 square feet of outdoor space, this deck adds tremendous value and usability to the home.

Material Selection
For the decking surface, the homeowners selected Trex Enhance decking in the Clamshell hue—a popular in-stock option that offers the beauty of wood without the hassle of constant upkeep. To ensure a clean, uninterrupted appearance, our crew used hidden fasteners throughout the deck boards. The fascia board and beam wraps are also crafted with Clamshell decking, secured with color-matched screws for a seamless finish from top to bottom.

Railing & Finishing Touches
To complement the modern gray tones of the deck surface, the railing system features black aluminum Ultralox stock railing, topped with a standard Alta rail cap for comfort and durability. A matching black gate sits at the top of the stairs, adding both style and safety.
All post sleeves are finished in black as well, ensuring there are no white components on this deck. This a design detail that gives the structure a sleek, modern, unified aesthetic and is definitely one of the most unique decks we have designed!
