When it comes to updating an an outdoor living area in a townhome community, the right blend of design, materials, and craftsmanship can completely transform the space. Our latest project showcase in Upper Marlboro features exactly that—a beautiful re-deck using TimberTech materials and a pergola that offers modern style and extra shade for Maryland’s sunny days. Thanks to Project Consultant Christopher Holmes, Production Manager Jimmy Swann, and the rest of our talented staff and crews, our PG County clients now have a long-lasting deck that stands out beautifully from neighboring townhomes.
BEFORE:

We kept the original framework and removed the existing wood deck boards and vinyl railing. We then installed 110 sq. ft. of TimberTech Driftwood decking, selected for its rich color tones, low maintenance needs, and long-lasting performance. To elevate the look further, a Driftwood feature board was added around the 38′ outer perimeter, creating a framed finish that gives the entire deck a polished look.
Safety doesn’t have to come at the cost of style. The new railing system features white Washington-style railing paired with black aluminum balusters, resulting in a clean, high-contrast look. The white rails brighten the space, while the black balusters keep sightlines open.
A standout addition to this project is the 18′ x 5′ white vinyl pergola. Designed without a center post to preserve open space and improve functionality, the pergola incorporates aluminum inserts that provide crucial structural support while maintaining a sleek visual appeal. This small engineering upgrade allows for a wider, unobstructed span.
AFTER:

The finished result is a beautiful updated townhome deck without the cost of a full rebuild. The combination of TimberTech decking, a low-maintenance vinyl pergola, and durable aluminum elements ensures this deck will be enjoyed for many years to come. If you live in a townhome community and are considering updating or expanding your outdoor space, a re-deck like this one offers an incredible return both in beauty and functionality!
