There’s nothing quite like sitting on a porch overlooking the water, enjoying peaceful moments or making lifelong memories with friends and family. For homeowners in Severna Park, many years were spent relaxing and entertaining on their waterfront backyard deck. Mr. and Mrs. Williams knew it was time for an upgrade, and enlisted Fence & Deck Connection to complete a “forever deck” for their forever home. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jake Wolod, one of our incredible Project Consultants, spent quite a bit of time with Mr. and Mrs. Williams in order to perfect all the details that make this deck project so special. Once the layout, design, and color options were set, our hardworking crews were able to get to work to turn this aged wooden deck into a beautiful composite work of art. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We first removed the existing decking, railing, benches, stairs, and fascia on the upper and lower decks. For safety and security, we replaced the footer and support post on the far left of back upper deck. We then were able to install an incredible 1,800 sq. ft. of Trex Select composite decking in Pebble Grey. This light heather grey matches the home almost perfectly, so the deck truly acts as an extension of the indoor space into the outdoors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The deck boards run in a herringbone pattern and parallel pattern for the lower deck, and a diagonal pattern for the upper deck. While many decks make use of decking in a linear pattern, patterned decking can add visual interest to a deck’s design. A herringbone deck pattern is one of the most popular designs to create a striking sense of style and creativity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

White vinyl railing with grey round aluminum spindles complement the new design, and white textured fascia wraps the deck for a clean, finished look. Instead of traditional lattice, we used Trex Pebble Grey decking boards as skirting to close off the lower deck and access gates. A new gate with standard hardware was installed on the upper deck at the top of a brand new set of stairs. Last but not least, we converted the existing wooden bench seating into a new and improved composite bench seating. The new decks require far less maintenance and are impervious to moisture problems. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was with a heavy heart that we learned of Mr. Williams passing just a couple weeks before the installation of his long-awaited deck project. Knowing he had hoped to spend mornings and evenings sitting on his new deck with his beloved wife, Jake wanted to do something special to honor his client and new friend. When our team went out to photograph the new deck and admire the craftsmanship, Jake presented Mrs. Williams with two blue Adirondack chairs \u2014 one with a plaque in memory of Mr. Williams, ensuring he always has a reserved seat and a beautiful view. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
