While composite decks<\/a> are a popular choice in Maryland, wood decks make a classic and charming statement for houses of all shapes and sizes. Unlike composite decking, wood will naturally deteriorate and be broken down by fungi and insects \u2014 all part of the life cycle using natural materials. Untreated wood will last roughly 5-7 years outside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pressure treated wood decking, however, should last about 15 to 20 years and even more with proper maintenance. Pressure-treated wood is wood that has been infused with chemical preservatives to protect the wood from rot and insects. The wood is placed in a depressurized holding tank that removes the air and replaces it with a preservative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brian Hannon worked with our customers in Anne Arundel County to recreate their original wood deck that was rotting and in an unsafe condition, and designed a beautiful new space that is up to code and built with premium pressure treated wood!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We first removed and hauled away the existing decking before installing a new 16′ x 16′ structure supporting premium pressure treated wood decking, railing, and fascia. We replaced the steps with a new set of 4′ wide stairs on the opposite side of the original deck’s location We also replaced the damaged and collapsed lattice with new lattice skirting, complete with an access gate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new deck is ready to be stained or painted in whichever tone or color the homeowner chooses! <\/p>\n\n\n\n
