Many homeowners underestimate the maintenance a wooden deck needs, and never consider replacing a wood deck with something like composite,<\/a> which requires far less maintenance. When an older deck becomes unsafe or unsightly, composite decking becomes the easy choice for a deck that is barefoot-friendly, attractive, and durable for the long haul. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Andrew Vidulich, one of Fence & Deck Connection\u2019s extremely knowledgeable Sales Consultants, worked with homeowners in Ellicott City to transform an old, rotting wooden deck into a stunning new outdoor space that will last for decades. During an initial\u00a0onsite estimate appointment<\/a>, our Sales team reviews the scope of the project, discusses all plans, designs, and material options, then offers an estimated project timeline and cost estimate. Below, you\u2019ll see the original deck before the renovation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While the customer provided the plat for the project, Fence & Deck Connection assisted with obtaining the permit. To obtain a county permit, generally what you need is a copy of your property plat that clearly shows the house, including property lines and where the new deck is to be located on the property. In Howard County in particular, unless a deck is less than 25 square feet, it require footings and a permit. Footings must be a minimum size 18″ in diameter or 16″ x 16″ at least 30″ deep.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With a new free standing structure and deck framing, we were able to install 240 sq. ft. of TimberTech Antique Leather decking with a Dark Roast colored feature board. Antique Leather is a beautiful brown color in a bright golden tone. Each board has a varying rich and bright brown design style so there won\u2019t be a uniform look. The wood grain is also more noticeable to give a more textured, real-wood appearance. The Dark Roast is a great complementing accent color. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Black Alta-style aluminum railings enclose the new space, and Dark Roast fascia with color matching screws adds a perfect clean, finishing touch. To illuminate the space for nighttime use, 8 black Saturn-style post cap lights are placed along the perimeter. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
