For February’s Project of the Month, Fence & Deck Connection is proud to highlight a stunning deck project in Prince George’s County, Maryland. This month, we showcase a beautiful transformation from a grassy backyard to a raised deck with all the bells and whistles. Looking to complete their home with superior craftsmanship and long-lasting composite decking, homeowners in Accokeek, Maryland reached out to Fence & Deck Connection to design their outdoor space.\u00a0Project Consultant Christopher Holmes met with our customers in PG County for a free onsite estimate appointment to discuss their vision for the outdoor space. They decided to go with beautiful TimberTech decking in one of our in stock colors!\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We first installed new framework to support 388 sq. ft. of TimberTech Edge Prime+ decking in the Dark Cocoa.\u00a0 As one of our stock boards, TimberTech Edge Prime+ Dark Cocoa offers the simple, traditional wood look you love without the rigorous maintenance of wood. Featuring subtle color blending and a rift- and quarter-sawn straight grain pattern, the lighter weight scalloped profile premium polymer capped composite boards deliver real wood aesthetics you\u2019ll never have to sand, stain, or seal.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

White Washington-style vinyl railing with black round balusters enclose the new space, and white vinyl textured fascia wrap gives the new deck a clean, finished look.\u00a0White Saturn post cap lights post ensure this space can be used both day and night, with plenty of light for grilling, dining, or entertaining! A few steps complete with black Pyxis riser lights lead down to the backyard from the raised outdoor space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While many homeowners choose lattice skirting as a decorative and functional addition for the deck’s underside, our PG County clients chose a more modern way to enclose the underside of the deck with Carolina skirting. Carolina skirting typically consists of panels made of wood or composite materials arranged in horizontal pattern. Deck skirting hides the structural supports, pipes, wiring, and other unsightly elements underneath the deck. This helps create a clean and polished appearance, preventing these features from detracting from the deck’s beauty. By enclosing the space beneath the deck, skirting helps deter pests and critters from nesting or seeking shelter underneath. This can reduce the risk of infestations and damage caused by animals such as rodents, insects, and stray cats. Overall, Carolina skirting serves both functional and decorative purposes, enhancing the appearance, functionality, and longevity of a deck or porch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another great feature of this was project is the addition of a 11\u2032 x 14\u2032 white vinyl pergola. This large pergola is a a beautiful\u00a0deck accessory<\/a>\u00a0that serves many purposes! Pergolas are a great way to extend your living space and can increase the amount of time you spend outside on warm, sunny days in the middle of a Maryland summer. Designed and oriented correctly on your deck, a pergola can provide plenty of shade for dinner parties, book reading, or a \u201cwork from home\u201d office location. You may also install additional covers, for even more sun protection or in preparation for unpredictable summer storms, such as fabric or a retractable cover. Given the size of the pergola, an afternoon BBQ or evening dinner party will have a lovely shaded area to eat beneath!\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
