When the Covid-19 pandemic hit earlier this year, our clients in Crofton, Maryland were relieved they had a newly completed home extension. With mom and dad working from home, children out of school, and a small dog on a mission, this family has quite the room for social distancing \u2014 an amazing deck surrounding a hot tub, an outdoor television, and a screened in porch for relaxing, working from home, or virtual learning. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our Project Consultant, Brian Hannon worked with our clients to design a new deck layout that custom fit around their hot tub, and provided a small space to access the machine for basic upkeep and maintenance. To begin this project, we removed the existing deck and screened porch, but the original screen porch frame remained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We installed roughly 560 sq ft of TimberTech decking in the beautiful Rustic Elm color, with a feature board framing the hot tub area as well as the deck’s perimeter. An additional white Azek feature board wraps around the deck’s perimeter and black UltraLox railings and posts provide safety and support. Twelve “eyeball” lights were also installed and are the perfect addition for a cozy evening in the hot tub. The newly expanded deck area near the front walkway provides a small grill bump-out and seating area for the family or guests. Lastly, white vinyl privacy lattice dresses the deck’s bottom and a gated access panel allows for under-deck storage. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new screen room offers a 13′ x 18′ area with the trusted and entirely customizable Eze-Breeze window system. The completely framed room’s floor matches the main deck’s Rusted Elm TimberTech layout, and the newly constructed roof with Colonial Slate shingles was designed with a slightly less pitch and ties into the kitchen bump-out roof. Desert Tan perforated soffit decorates the overhangs, and all fascia and rake boards were also wrapped in Desert Tan coil. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The interior displays beautiful white vinyl beaded soffit walls and cathedral ceiling complementing the darker floors and airy, soft-toned nautical furnishings. The room’s electrical package includes a ceiling fan, recessed lights, electrical outlets, and exterior lights. Our favorite detail of the screened porch is the doggie door positioned at the bottom of the traditional storm door! <\/p>\n\n\n\n
