A backyard swimming pool is an absolute treasure during the dog days of a Maryland summer. A convenient water retreat comes with responsibility, however. When planning for a pool fence<\/a> you must make sure the fencing adheres to Maryland swimming pool laws. The state of Maryland requires that homeowners with residential swimming pools on their property adequately enclose the structure with a fence. In Anne Arundel County in particular, pool fencing must be at least four feet high, and there can only be a maximum two inch gap between the bottom of the fence and the ground. Pickett fences must not have gaps that are larger than four inches wide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of our friendly and knowledgable Project Consultants,<\/a> Joel Lewis, worked with our clients in Severna Park, Maryland to transform the home’s perimeter fencing and install new aluminum pool code fencing. We removed and hauled away the existing warped wood fencing and then replaced it with 306 feet of 5 feet tall white vinyl tongue and groove privacy fencing with a 1 foot lattice topper and New England-style post caps. Two 5′ wide straight top walk gates provide easy access to and from the backyard. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the pool fencing, we installed 165 feet of 54″ black 3-rail ascot Alumi-Guard fencing and one 4′ wide walk gate with an aqua latch. This type of gate latch requires an upward pull on the knob to open the gate and at the height of the fence, removes any child less than 3′ tall from access. Additionally, they are code compliant and they self close and self latch your pool fence gate. Using the same style fencing, we also replaced 19 feet of 4′ high 2-rail ascot style railing for the basement stairs with an additional walk gate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
