While wood decks can offer natural beauty and charm to outdoor spaces, they do require regular upkeep to maintain their appearance and structural integrity.
With proper care and maintenance, a wood deck can provide many years of enjoyment before needing replacement or significant renovation. However, for homeowners with busy lifestyles, composite decking, which requires far less maintenance and upkeep, is an ideal outdoor living solution.
Homeowners in Severna Park, Maryland reached out to Fence & Deck Connection for help redesigning and expanding their outdoor space using composite decking. With the help of Project Consultant Tom Simpson and our amazingly talented installation crew, our clients now have a timeless TimberTech composite deck that will last for decades to come!
Before:
The New Sea Salt Gray TimberTech Deck
We first removed and hauled away the existing wood deck before installing a new pressure-treated wood frame to support 400 sq. ft. of Timbertech Edge Prime+ decking in the Sea Salt Gray hue. Sea Salt Gray is one of our popular stock deck boards — a medium gray with cool and warm undertones to create a versatile, gently weathered wood look. The TimberTech Prime+ Collection delivers capped composite deck boards with subtle nuances of color for an attractive real wood aesthetic. No sanding, staining or sealing is required with maintenance-friendly composite decking! Additionally, this type of decking features a 100% polymer, 3-sided cap that extends inside the grooves of grooved-shoulder boards for enhanced protection against moisture.
Matching Sea Salt Gray feature boards picture frame the deck, and a matching seaboard runs down the middle of the new outdoor space. White vinyl Washington-style railings with round black aluminum balusters — a popular railing design for a variety of deck styles and hues — safely enclose the deck. One set of five “picture-framed” steps were installed using Sea Salt Gray decking and white vinyl stair wraps.
The new deck provides much more usable space surrounding the home’s addition, and completely transforms the home’s exterior and backyard!
