Makeover Monday: TimberTech Deck with Pergola in Severn, Maryland

Andrew Vidulich, one of Fence & Deck Connection’s incredibly talented Project Consultants, worked with homeowners in Severn, Maryland to design a new deck and pergola to replace their outdated wooden structures.

We demoed and hauled away to existing wooden deck, and replaced it with 225 sq. ft. of TimberTech decking in a lovely Dark Roast hue. Instead of the uniform wood on the previous deck, the new space was accented with white vinyl railings and black aluminum balusters. White fascia wraps and 1″ white vinyl lattice adorns the bottom half of the deck. The enclosure keeps out debris, pests, and animals, and a gate provides easy access to under deck storage.

We replaced the old pergola with a new 15 x 10′ structure using double purlins. Pergolas are a great way to extend your living space and can increase the amount of time you spend outside on warm, sunny days in the middle of a Maryland summer. Designed and oriented correctly on your deck, a pergola can provide plenty of shade for dinner parties, book reading, or a “work from home” office location. You may also install additional covers, for even more sun protection or in preparation for unpredictable summer storms, such as fabric or a retractable cover

White Saturn Anello lights were installed on the deck’s post caps, and black Corona riser lights illuminate the set of stairs for safety. White Nebula lights were placed on the corners of the pergola which helps provide a lovely nighttime atmosphere for outdoor gatherings.

The new deck brightens up the outdoor space and while the Dark Roast boards have a beautiful wood-like appearance, composite decking requires far less maintenance. TimberTech Pro Reserve decking is inspired by reclaimed wood, with a heavy wire-brushed, low-gloss finish showcasing the classic cathedral wood grain pattern.

TimberTech decking is designed to retain color and is extremely resistant to moisture intrusion, as there are no wood or mineral fillers in the cap. Along with splinters or warping, our customers will never have to worry about sanding, staining, or painting their deck again!
