Makeover Monday: Pressure Treated Wood Deck in Glen Burnie, MD

For the majority of our Makeover Monday and Project of the Month posts, we feature composite decks — one of the most popular styles and upgrades for our Maryland customers. However, many of our clients prefer the classic charm of traditional wood decking. While composite decks offer longer lasting, more maintenance-free benefits, wood decks can last many years with the the proper care and attention — pressure treated wood decks require yearly power washing, staining and sealing.

Looking for the more naturally attractive look of a wood deck, homeowners in Glen Burnie, Maryland contacted Fence & Deck Connection for trusted experience to replace their brick patio outdoor space. One of our amazing Project Consultants, Andrew Vidulich, helped our clients design a classic Pressure Treated wood deck that fits the space nicely and goes along with their desired outdoor aesthetic.

Before:

Our talented, hardworking installation crews constructed a new frame to support 400 sq. ft. of Pressure Treated wood decking using 5/4×6 premium boards. Pressure Treated fascia wraps the perimeter, as well as the new stair risers. Like many platform decks that are low to the ground, this particular deck does not have any railings along the yard area. While some customers skip the railing on low-level decks for budgetary reasons, others prefer the look of uninterrupted deck space that seamlessly opens up to the backyard.

Pressure Treated wood railings were installed only against the basement steps, with taller additional railing on the backside of the steps to properly match the deck height. The new deck is a beautiful, natural canvas for what’s sure to be a lively space for years of outdoor family memories.
