Project of the Month: Unique Trex Deck in Annapolis, MD

There are many ways to make your outdoor space unique – from the decking color, to the railing choices, to additional features and upgrades such as lighting and pergolas. For homeowners, in Annapolis, Maryland, they decided to take all of the above into consideration when designing their backyard deck!

Andrew Vidulich worked with our clients to design a beautiful, spacious composite deck that provides shade, an unrestricted view, and plenty of room for relaxing and entertaining.

The “Before” and CAD Drawings for New Trex Deck

Once the plat and permit were secured, and the design plans approved, our talented crews were able to work their magic! We built a new structure to support approximately 406 sq. ft. of Trex Enhance decking using hidden fasteners in the Toasted Sand hue. Toasted Sand is a tawny seashell brown with subtle dark-brown splashes, featuring a low-maintenance, wood-like grain pattern. This decking option is made of high-performance composite for durability that won’t rot, warp or splinter, unlike wood. Its protective outer shell resists fading and staining, which means no sanding or painting required! Trex composite decking is also extremely low-maintenance and cleans easily with soap and water.

Black aluminum Ultralox railings with glass balusters enclose the space for an elegant, modern look and an unrestricted view. Both sets of steps, however, were installed with standard railings. As an additional safety feature and an illuminated nighttime atmosphere, we added post lights on all posts and black Corona riser lights on every other riser on the sets of stairs. Unlike traditional white lattice, our clients chose for a bold look with black diagonal lattice under the deck with an access gate.

While some homeowners choose to place a small pergola over a section of the deck, our clients chose to go big or go home! We attached a 15′ x 19′ (with 3 additional feet of overhang) white vinyl pergola to the house, with the front posts tied into the front railings. 5 white Nebula lights were installed onto the pergola posts for additional lighting. The pergola creates a beautiful outdoor space for hanging nighttime lights or climbing plants, which can also provide shade and vibrant greenery.

The various upgrades and design features truly makes this deck one of a kind. We enjoyed designing this project, and we’re pretty sure our clients are pleased with the work!

“We had an awesome experience with Fence and Deck Connection. Not only did that have the expertise designing the deck but they finished so quickly! We are very happy and will continue using for future projects. Thank you!”
