Makeover Monday: Trex Woodland Brown Deck in Middle River

When homeowners purchase a new home in a newer housing community or townhome development, they’re left with the the opportunity to design an additional outdoor space that will add value to their home and ample room to relax and entertain. While our clients in Middle River, Maryland had an existing small balcony off one set of double doors, they were hoping to create a larger space that is much more accessible.

Steve Nehus, one of our experienced Project Consultants worked with our Baltimore County customers to add a beautiful new composite deck that matches seamlessly with the style of their new townhome.

Before:

We first removed the existing 50 sq ft. deck balcony, before constructing a new 430 sq. ft. pressure treated wood structure. Using hidden fasteners, we installed Trex Select decking in Woodland Brown — an umber hue with an easy-to-maintain, wood-like grain pattern. Select decking is budget friendly composite decking, with the perfect pairing of price and minimal maintenance. It’s made of affordable high-performance composite that won’t rot, warp, splinter. Plus, its protective outer shell resists fading and staining!

A matching feature board frames the perimeter of the deck, while white Washington-style railings with black aluminum balusters offers a nice contrasts to the darker colored decking. For a clean, finished look, the deck is wrapped with white vinyl fascia with mitered corners and capped with Cortex plugs.

A gate matching the railing, and a set of steps matching the decking lead down to the yard below for convenient access.
