Makeover Monday: TimberTech Composite Deck in Cockeysville, MD

Though our “home base” is in Anne Arundel County, Fence & Deck Connection is proud to install fences and decks throughout the state of Maryland — including Baltimore County. Homeowners in Cockeysville, Maryland had a beautiful newer home, but the downstairs double doors were left without a proper walkout. With very distinct space limitations, they were looking for an inviting area that serves as an exit and entryway, as well as an elevated spot for relaxing outdoors.

Project Consultant Steven Nehus helped design a charming composite deck using TimberTech composite material that fits nicely with the home’s exterior with a clean and modern aesthetic!

Before:

We constructed a 12 x 8.6″ free standing deck to support 104 sq. ft. of TimberTech Sea Salt Gray decking using hidden fasteners. Any boards that were unable to be secured using hidden fasteners were screwed to joists using color-matching screws. Timbertech EDGE Prime+ brings affordable, beautifully monochromatic decking to your outdoor living space with moderately varied hues. Featuring a subtle, straight grain pattern, the long-lasting, scalloped decking in this collection creates an authentic wood visual that is sure to impress.

White Ultralox Alta-style railings with cable rail secures the area. Similar to other types of aluminum railing products, cable railings are highly durable and can easily withstand exposure to all kinds of harsh weather patterns. All cable hardware used in cable railings is made from marine grade stainless steel, which is highly resistant to corrosion and requires minimal maintenance. Additionally, cable railings can easily blend in with any design or style of home, from contemporary homes to traditional homes, thanks to their clean lines — though it does offer a more modern look to the home’s exterior.

The new deck is wrapped with white vinyl fascia with mitered corners and capped with Cortex plugs for a clean, finished look, and a a matching set of steps lead down to the beautiful backyard. Instead of traditional lattice skating, we installed vertical white vinyl cladding along the perimeter of the deck with one access door. This design option is perfect for a more modern look.
