Makeover Monday: Dark Cocoa Composite Deck in Sykesville, Maryland

A new deck can completely transform the overall appearance of your home and backyard. Looking for a bit of a refresh with superior craftsmanship and long-lasting composite decking, homeowners in Sykesville, Maryland reached out to Fence & Deck Connection to design their outdoor space. Project Consultant Jeff Gottleib met with our customers at their Carroll County home for a free onsite estimate appointment to discuss their vision for the existing deck space. They decided to go with beautiful TimberTech decking in one of our in stock colors!

Before:

We first demoed and hauled away the existing wood deck, before constructing a 525 sq. ft. pressure treated wood frame with the existing footprint as the original deck. We then installed TimberTech Edge Prime+ decking in the Dark Cocoa hue, with matching seam boards and color matching screws. As one of our stock boards, TimberTech Edge Prime+ Dark Cocoa offers the simple, traditional wood look you love without the rigorous maintenance of wood. Featuring subtle color blending and a rift- and quarter-sawn straight grain pattern, the lighter weight scalloped profile premium polymer capped composite boards deliver real wood aesthetics you’ll never have to sand, stain, or seal.

White Washington-style vinyl railing with black round balusters enclose the new space, and white vinyl fascia wrap gives the new deck a clean, finished look. One set of 4′ wide steps lead down to the paver patio.

While the green painted wood deck blended in with the backyard, the new deck is a beautiful accent to the home and outdoor space. The Dark Cocoa hue really pops with the lush greenery surrounding the home!
