Makeover Monday: Pressure Treated Wood Deck in Fort Washington, Maryland

While composite decking continues to increase in popularity, wood decks can complement brick homes in various ways, providing a warm and natural extension to the exterior of the house. Homeowners in Fort Washington reached out to Fence & Deck Connection when it was time to replace their existing wood deck that as falling apart and showing signs of rot. Chad Costello, one of Fence & Deck Connection’s knowledgeable Project Consultants helped this PG County family redesign their outdoor space using premium pressure treated wood decking, which will last for years to come with the proper care and maintenance.

We first removed and hauled away the existing structure, which was not safe to support new decking. The new deck includes a back beam with deep footers, and is complete with six steps that are 4′ wide. We then installed a new, 10′ x 32′ pressure treated wood frame deck, with premium pressure treated wood deck boards. The new space has a center seam board is safely enclosed with matching wood railing and rail posts. Additionally, all rail posts have post-tensions. For extra support and safety, a white aluminum handrail was added along the staircase.
