Redecking is an efficient way to restore a deck and enjoy the benefits of a new deck, all without the full cost of a complete teardown and rebuild. Once an inspection has been made by a professional deck installation company, homeowners can identify if any of a current deck is salvageable for a budget friendly outdoor makeover. Generally, redecking involves removing your railings, decking, and stairs but keeping the existing structure/frame. Customers in Lothian, Maryland wanted to use their existing framework, as long as it was safe and structurally sound, but make the switch from wood decking to composite.
Project Consultant David King helped our clients in Anne Arundel County redeck their large outdoor space using existing footers and beams, while replacing the boards with maintenance-friendly composite decking. The updated deck designed using TimberTech decking is a beautiful upgrade and transformation!
Before:

We first removed and hauled away the existing deck boards, railings, and stairs. We then installed new decking (complete with feature and seam boards) using TimberTech Edge Prime+ composite decking in the stunning Coconut Husk hue. Coconut Husk is a a bright, sunny tan color with dark and light golden tones to create an authentic light wood visual. This color is a beautiful alternative to natural wood decking and in general, the Prime+ collection features subtle color blending and a rift- and quarter-sawn straight grain pattern with lighter weight scalloped profile premium polymer capped composite boards.
To complement the light golden tones, the new space was adorned with white textured vinyl fascia and white Lincoln-style vinyl railings with black aluminum balusters. A cocktail rail in the complementary Antique Leather hue tops the railing for an elevated, elegant look. Like the original deck, we installed one set of picture-framed stairs to grade.
