When it comes to creating the ultimate backyard retreat, a well-designed deck is a must. This summer, Fence & Deck Connection was pleased to help homeowners in Upper Marlboro, Maryland transform their outdoor space — one that is more spacious, modern, and requires far less maintenance. Project Consultant Chris Holmes helped our customers design a new space that offers plenty of room for relaxing and entertaining. We first removed and hauled away the existing wood deck before our hardworking crew installed the framework for a new 13′ x 13′ Trex deck.
Before: Wood Deck in Upper Marlboro, MD

One of the best things about Trex decking is that it’s very low maintenance. The rich, multi-tonal brown of the Rocky Harbor color gives the authentic look of wood without the constant upkeep. No more sanding, staining, or sealing. A contemporary changing neutral, Rocky Harbor adds sandy undertones to a rustic slate grey, featuring a low-maintenance, wood-like grain pattern. This hue belongs to Trex’s Enhance collection, which offers an authentic wood-grain appearance with the durability of composite and the affordability of wood. Enhance decking boards are scalloped, making them as lightweight as lumber—without the extra work. This long-lasting decking requires little upkeep and comes in seven colors.
To complement the Trex decking, we installed sleek Ultralox black Alta railing. The clean lines and dark color create a striking contrast, providing a modern touch while ensuring safety. For the posts, we used a tan wrap that perfectly ties the whole look together. Our clients opted for a clean, streamlined look with no wrapping or sleeving underneath. This simple choice allows for easy access and a minimalist aesthetic.
