A Welcoming Trex Deck in Pasadena, Maryland

Homeowners in Pasadena, Maryland contacted Fence & Deck Connection looking for a bit of an outdoor makeover. Their existing wood deck was deteriorating and lacking an inviting aesthetic. Dave King, one of Fence & Deck Connection’s experienced Sales Consultants worked with our clients to transform their outdoor space into one that requires far less maintenance and allows for maximum enjoyment!

Before:

We first removed and hauled away the existing deck and nearby basement railing. We then installed a new 13′ x 16′ pressure treated wood frame. The new sturdy structure was adorned with Trex Enhance decking in the Rocky Harbor hue. A contemporary changing neutral, Rocky Harbor adds sandy undertones to a rustic slate grey, featuring a low-maintenance, wood-like grain pattern. This hue belongs to Trex’s Enhance collection, which offers an authentic wood-grain appearance with the durability of composite and the affordability of wood. Enhance decking boards are scalloped, making them as lightweight as lumber—without the extra work. This long-lasting decking requires little upkeep and comes in seven colors.

White vinyl railing with black aluminum balusters enclose the new space, with white vinyl fascia wrap. Seven “picture framed” steps lead down to the yard, in the matching Rocky Harbor decking with white vinyl risers. Four white Polaris solar cap lights on the stairs provide an illuminated entry way to the outdoor space. White vinyl lattice skirting hides the structural supports, pipes, wiring, and other unsightly elements underneath the deck. This helps create a clean and polished appearance, preventing these features from detracting from the deck’s beauty. By enclosing the space beneath the deck, skirting helps deter pests and critters from nesting or seeking shelter underneath. This can reduce the risk of infestations and damage caused by animals such as rodents, insects, and stray cats.

For the last part of this project, we replaced the existing basement stairwell railing with black Ultralox Alta aluminum railing.
