Trex Rocky Harbor Deck Upgrade in Arnold, Maryland

Whether it’s for family gatherings, relaxation, or simply enjoying the view of spring in bloom, a well-designed deck serves as a perfect space to take the comforts of the indoors, outdoors. The Fence & Deck Connection team was tasked with transforming an outdated and worn-out deck in Arnold, Maryland into a modern, durable outdoor retreat. The process involved everything from removing the old structure to installing a brand-new, custom-designed deck with long-lasting, high-quality materials. Project Consultant Jeff Gottleib helped our Arnold customers design their new space using one of our stock deck boards: Trex Enhance Rocky Harbor.

Before:

The first phase of the project was the demolition of the existing deck. Our crews carefully dismantled the old deck, ensuring that the materials were removed safely and efficiently. This step involved taking down the old decking boards, railings, and steps while being mindful of the surrounding landscaping. Once the deck was dismantled, all debris was carefully hauled away, clearing the area for the new build. With the old deck gone, we constructed the frame for the new deck. Using 296 sq. ft. of pressure-treated wood, the frame was carefully assembled to create a strong and lasting foundation.

Once the frame and beams were in place, we installed Trex Enhance Rocky Harbor decking — the perfect solution for this outdoor project, offering a durable, low-maintenance, textured appearance. The team skillfully installed each decking board, ensuring they were perfectly spaced and aligned. Trex decking not only adds beauty to the deck but also ensures longevity, as it’s resistant to fading, staining, and weathering. The deep, rustic tones of Rocky Harbor were chosen to complement the home’s exterior and create an inviting outdoor living space.

Sleek black aluminum railing with horizontal cable railings completes creates an incredibly modern railing system offers both safety and style, providing an unobstructed view of the surrounding environment. We also added Timbertech Driftwood top cap along the deck, ensuring a seamless transition between the decking and the railing, and a nice complementary color. The final touch in this deck makeover was the installation of a 4’ wide set of step. These steps not only provide easy access to the deck but also enhance its functionality.
