Gary and Nancy, homeowners in Severna Park, spend many of their days admiring the lush tropical paradise in their backyard from three stories of spacious decks. With various trees, plants, a screened gazebo dedicated to crab feasts, and a rushing stream, you’d be surprised you’re in Severna Park and not vacationing on a Hawaiian island! However, a much needed deck update was the final step in completing this long-lasting festive outdoor oasis.

Jake Wolod, one of Fence & Deck Connection’s top notch Project Consultants worked with Gary and Nancy to design a one-of-a-kind space that will serve as a relaxing sanctuary, plant home, and a perfect gathering spot for years to come. After the plans were in place, our hardworking crews got to work.
Leaving the original deck footprint in place, we removed the existing wooden decking, railing, and stairs. We then replaced it with 731 sq. ft. of TimberTech composite decking in Antique Leather. TimberTech decking is extremely low-maintenance — our customers will never need to sand, seal, or stain even again! TimberTech’s Antique Leather in particular is a beautiful hue that lends the warmth of a golden oak hardwood interior flooring in exterior spaces and provides hints a natural cedar aesthetic.
Black Ultralox Victorian-style railing with glass slats were installed on the upper and middle decks, for an elegant touch and an unrestricted view. For the lower railings, landing, and stairs, we installed black Ultralox railing with standard balusters. Tan vinyl fascia wraps the new deck and existing support posts for a clean, finished look. To turn a day time tropical paradise into an evening retreat, we installed black Aurora Pyxis Recessed lights on each of the twelve steps leading up to the main deck. Deck step riser lights are a great safety measure and a beautiful way to brighten up the space.
