Makeover Monday: Composite Deck in Glen Burnie, Maryland

Composite decking, also known as synthetic decking, is an environmentally friendly wood alternative that’s comprised of plastic and wood fiber. Though it doesn’t boast the “natural” benefit of a wood deck, there are several color options and textures to choose from that are aesthetically pleasing. Our customers in Glen Burnie wanted to transform their wooden back deck into a more modern space that requires far less maintenance and will last for years.

One of the greatest benefits for composite decking, as explained by homeowners, is the fact that it’s far easier to clean and maintain than wood decking. For starters, composite decking is more resistant to weather, pests, mold, and other natural sources of decay and color fading. It’s certainly easier to clean than standard wood decking — no need for yearly power washing, sanding and staining! All you need is a soap and water to get your composite deck looking fresh and clean.

Plus, the material doesn’t rot, crack, splinter, or deteriorate with time — making this decking material a great choice if you have small children or pets.

Before:

Andrew Vidulich, one of our experienced Project Consultants worked with our customers to design a beautiful backyard deck to be used for relaxing and entertaining. We first removed and hauled away the existing wood deck, before installing 256 sq. ft. of TimberTech composite decking in the vivid and elegant Driftwood color. White vinyl Washington-style railings with round black aluminum balusters enclose the deck, and white vinyl fascia wraps produce a more finished look. Last but not least, a 1″ white diagonal lattice skirt keeps out pests and critters, while an access gate provides the use of private under deck storage.
