Makeover Monday: Trex Re-Deck in Harwood, Maryland

When it’s time to consider investing in a deck makeover, homeowners decide to start from scratch, or determine if their existing deck is salvageable for repair or partial replacement. Just because your deck’s stairs, rails, and planking are in bad shape, doesn’t necessarily mean the entire structure has to be torn down and replaced. On the other hand, you don’t want to gamble with the safety of those who’ll be enjoying your deck, including family members and friends. Our Maryland fence and deck installation company can help determine if your deck’s posts and framework are structurally sound enough to support a re-decking project over a total replacement.

David King, one of Fence & Deck Connection’s experienced Project Consultants worked with homeowners in Harwood, Maryland to breathe new life into their existing outdoor space. The new look truly transforms the overall look of the home and yard.

Upon their initial meeting, he brought several samples to show the various color options we offer for both decking and railing. Using the existing frame, we upgraded their aging and maintenance-heavy wooden deck using long-lasting composite Trex material!

BEFORE:

We first removed and hauled away the existing deck boards, railing, and stairs, before replacing the new decking. We first added joists between each joist bay. Then, we installed 299 sq. ft. of Trex Transcend decking in the stunning Spiced Rum color, a member of the Premium Tropical shades. A burnt umber with onyx black lowlights, Spiced Rum resembles tropical ipe, with its true-to-nature vibrancy and realistic grain pattern.

Perimeter boards were fastened with matching colored screws, and Vintage Lantern feature boards and a seam board offer a lovely complementary tone on the deck’s surface. A deeply burnished brown, Vintage Lantern captures bygone charm, with its true-to-nature vibrancy and realistic grain pattern.

White vinyl railing with black aluminum balusters safely enclose the deck, and white vinyl fascia wraps the deck. A 2×4 Spiced Rum cap board tops the railing for an elegant look, and serves as a nice spot for drinks or plans to rest. Last but not least, six steps with white vinyl risers lead down to the stone patio and backyard.

The new look is modern and updated, yet timeless, and beautifully brightens up the backyard!
