Many townhome owners look to upgrade their existing wood deck to a larger outdoor space. If their current deck is two stories off the ground and does not include stairs, many homeowners request that the new deck plan incorporate them into the layout. Our knowledgeable Project Consultants are able to work with homeowners to design a deck that combines both a larger outdoor living space as well as secure steps to the ground below. Our team is also very experienced working with community HOA guidelines, and can help clients down a path for a successful project that falls within the rules and regulations of the HOA. For our customers in Odenton, Jake Wolod helped to replace and extend their small wooden deck with a more spacious design using maintenance-free TimberTech composite material, and included a staircase to their yard below.
We first demolished and removed the existing wood deck, before constructing a new pressure treated wood frame. We were then able to install TimberTech EDGE Prime+ Decking in Dark Cocoa. The Prime+ collection of composite decking is defined by vivid color blending capturing the dimensional aesthetic of traditional lumber, clean lifework for a simple, inviting look, and lighter weighted scalloped boards for easy installation but a secure foot feel. Dark Cocoa color boasts a warm brown shade, flecked with varied hues that give natural color dimension while also staying true to TimberTech’s low maintenance and high-performance features.
White Washington-style railing encloses the new space, and fascia was trimmed with white PVC. The new deck offers much more outdoor living space than the previous setup, and will require far less maintenance than wood decking! The homeowners now have a safe way to reach the ground below from their deck outside as well.
