Deck Goals: Trex Lineage & Aluminum Railing Upgrade in Davidsonville

If you’ve even been told by someone that black and brown don’t go together, they clearly haven’t seen this recent deck project out of Davidsonville, Maryland. This stunning backyard transformation combines the rich, earthy tones of Trex Lineage Jasper decking with sleek black aluminum railings and lighting accents, proving that bold contrast can be both modern and timeless. Led by Sales Consultant Andrew Vidulich and Production Manager John Kilchenstein, this project is a perfect blend of style, structure, and smart design.

Before: Brown Painted Wood DeckĀ

The project began with the removal and haul away of the home’s existing deck. As always, our crew handled the demo process safely and efficiently, clearing the way for a brand new outdoor space. Per the homeowner’s request, we reinforced an 8×8 section of the deck to create a highly stable area that could support a very strong partition or privacy feature down the line. This custom touch ensures long-term functionality, no matter how the space evolves.

In place of the old structure, we installed approximately 450 sq. ft. of Trex Lineage decking in the Jasper color. This decking option offers the rich, warm look of natural wood with the low-maintenance benefits of composite. Trex Lineage is also engineered for heat mitigation, which means the deck stays cooler underfoot. Perfect Maryland summers! To complement the modern tones of the Jasper decking, we installed black Alta style aluminum railings with standard posts and balusters. For safety and ambiance, low-profile Ultralox post lights were added to every railing post, creating an elegant glow when the sun goes down.

We also included matching risers and fascia to tie the entire look together. The steps to grade feature miter cut edges for a polished finish, while black Corona riser lights were installed on every other step, adding both visibility and a stylish accent. To complete the under-deck appearance, we used Trex Jasper fascia boards for vertical skirting. The homeowner opted to forgo a gate, maintaining a clean, uninterrupted look around the base of the deck.

This project is a perfect example of how modern, low-maintenance materials paired with stylish and functional upgrades can completely transform an outdoor living space. We’re proud to have brought this homeowner’s vision to life, and we know they’ll be enjoying their new deck for years to come!
