Makeover Monday: New Deck for Edgewater New Construction

Building on newly purchased land is an exciting process for homeowners. With a blank slate, you’re able to design your dream home, choosing room layouts, and styles and upgrades for the kitchen, flooring, bathroom materials, etc. Upgrades that are rarely sold in most new home developments or new construction, however, are the fences and decks. When you drive through your neighborhood, you might notice that instead of first or second story decks, there will be French or sliding glass doors with a piece of fence placed directly in front of it. This is so the homeowner can add the deck as an upgrade, or purchase the home as is and build the deck after closing. As we all know, life happens, so sometimes decks don’t get built for years, if ever!

Homeowners in Edgewater, Maryland had built their new home, but they were missing a usable, elevated outdoor space off their first floor backdoor. They didn’t wait too long after their home was completed, and reached out to Fence & Deck Connection to add the perfect finishing touch. Project Consultant Andrew Vidulich helped design a gorgeous space using TimberTech composite decking and a sophisticated railing system. Check out the before and afters below!

Before:

We first built new framework to support approximately 240 sq. ft. of TimberTech Reserve decking in the Reclaimed Chestnut hue. The Reserve collection brings the charm of reclaimed wood to your space without the rigorous maintenance of wood. Featuring the rustic character and natural beauty of aged wood, TimberTech’s premium polymer capped composite boards deliver real wood aesthetics you’ll never have to sand, stain, or seal. One of our newest offerings, Reclaimed Chestnut is a light brown with a grey cast inspired by gently weathered reclaimed barn wood. This light neutral tone is a perfect for warm summers, and provides a blank canvas for seasonal furniture and decor.

Black aluminum Ultralox railings pairs nicely with this lighter toned decking, and vertical cable rails offer an airy, less restricted view plus a modern, industrial touch. White vinyl textured fascia completes the look. The brand new deck complements the home’s siding beautifully and is a unique outdoor addition that will last for years to come!
