This spring, led by Project Consultant David King, we had the pleasure of revitalizing a townhouse deck in Bowie, Maryland by transforming it into a modern, durable outdoor extension of the home.

This particular project was all about clean lines, contrast, and long-lasting materials. As with many of our projects, this build required thorough planning and coordination. With the help of our in-house permitting team, we secured permits with both Prince George’s County, which required a property plat. The homeowners selected TimberTech’s Driftwood composite decking, part of their Reserve Collection. Driftwood is a lovely, warmer grey tone that has depth and character with a wood-like texture that adds character without sacrificing performance. We also installed a Driftwood feature board, which provides a sleek border detail and enhances the overall aesthetic of the deck surface.
To frame the space, our crews installed a white vinyl railing system round black aluminum balusters, giving the deck a modern, yet classic look. White vinyl rail posts complement the overall design and ensure durability in the face of Maryland’s changing seasons. Finishing touches included white vinyl fascia for a polished edge and white vinyl horizontal Carolina skirting which ties in perfectly with the rest of the railing system. An access gate in the skirting was also installed—providing convenient closed off access underneath the space while maintaining the deck’s cohesive look.
