This week for Makeover Monday, we’re taking a trip to Pasadena, Maryland, where we had the pleasure of transforming a backyard into a stunning, low-maintenance outdoor living space using customer-favorite Trex decking. Our clients wanted to replace their old dilapidating wooden deck with something that would not only look beautiful, but also last for years to come with minimal upkeep. To bring their vision to life, Project Consultant Brian Hannon (with the help from the rest of our amazing team) designed a spacious 22′ x 14′ deck that would serve as the perfect spot for family gatherings and relaxation.
Before:

We started by carefully removing the existing wood structure to create a clean slate for the new design. For the main decking, we installed Trex Enhance decking in the beautiful Rocky Harbor color, a deep gray with a realistic wood grain that evokes the serene colors of a coastal New England town. To achieve a seamless and clean look, the decking was installed with hidden fasteners. We also incorporated a Trex Rocky Harbor feature board and a seam board, adding a subtle touch of custom design that breaks up the main deck surface and gives an interesting focal point.
The deck’s perimeter was finished with crisp white fascia boards, completed with matching white plugs for a clean, cohesive look. A classic white vinyl railing with sleek black round aluminum spindles was chosen to provide a timeless aesthetic while offering safety and durability.
One of the standout features of this project is the continuous Trex Lineage Biscayne cap board, which serves as a functional drink rail. This thoughtful addition creates a perfect spot for guests to rest their drinks, place plants, or simply lean on to enjoy the view. The Biscayne color is a light coastal brown with warm honey hues and a natural grain pattern designed to look like mangroves and sandy coasts. It is part of Trex’s Transcend Lineage line which features on-trend, lighter colors and SunComfortable Technology to keep decks cooler and more comfortable on hot days. Finally, we added 4′ wide steps leading down to grade, making the new space easily accessible from the yard.

This Pasadena deck is a testament to how a thoughtful design and quality materials can completely change the way a family enjoys their backyard. We are so happy to have helped these homeowners create a space they will love for many years to come!
