Makeover Monday: A Trex Transformation in Severna Park, Maryland

While concrete patios are often budget friendly and low maintenance, they definitely don’t have the warm, inviting look of a wood or composite deck. Patios, whether paver, stone, or concrete, are generally less expensive than decks, but the ROI on a new deck addition runs much greater than one on a patio. Since a patio’s surface is exposed to harsh weather, it can be stained with mud, mildew and other natural stains such as leaves, unlike composite decking materials, like Trex!

Homeowners in Severna Park, Maryland reached out to Fence & Deck Connection to transform their outdated covered concrete patio into a beautiful new deck space to gather with friends and family. Brian Hannon, one of our experienced Sales Consultants helped our clients choose the best decking choices for their vision of the new outdoor space. Take a look at the stunning Trex deck below!

Before:

We first cut and removed the concrete, removed the covered roof comprised of wood and plastic, and also disposed of the brick steps before constructing a frame to support 322 sq. ft. of Trex Enhanced decking in the Rocky Harbor hue. A contemporary changing neutral, Rocky Harbor adds sandy undertones to a rustic slate grey, featuring a low-maintenance, wood-like grain pattern. A matching seam and feature board gives the deck a clean, picture-framed surface, and white vinyl fascia wraps the decks perimeter.

White vinyl railing with black square aluminum spindles enclose the space, and 1″ white diagonal lattice skirts the bottom of the deck. A lattice skirt enclosure conceals the deck framing, also allowing air to circulate under the porch floor, which keeps the framing dry and free of rot. It also keeps larger pests from getting under the deck or house. Last but not least, we installed black Pyxis riser lights on two of the three 5′ wide steps.

After:
