“Giving Tuesday” is most commonly celebrated the week after Thanksgiving, but this year, the movement is in full force a few months early due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. #GivingTuesday is a global call to action — a call to everyone to come together and do good and make a difference.
Giving back is at the heart of our Fence & Deck family, and we are always willing to answer the call. In the past few weeks, our team has been reaching out to our Maryland neighbors to do what we can to help during these uncertain times. From our healthcare heroes to the essential staff working tirelessly keeping our grocery store shelves stocked, it’s important to take care of our community members — from 6 feet apart, of course!
Last week, our friends at TimberTech generously donated $1,000 toward our “Locals Helping Locals” effort to support those in need. Together, we were able to purchase $2,250 in gift cards from Target and Shoppers Food Warehouse. These gift cards were distributed to a few local charities that have been greatly affected by the pandemic:
Happy Helpers For the Homeless: Provides food, toiletries, and clothing with compassion and a smile in Glen Burnie and Baltimore City.
The Blue Ribbon Project: Works to prevent of all forms of child abuse and provides critical support to victims of abuse and neglect in Anne Arundel County and beyond.
Anne Arundel County Food Bank: Supports the local community and needs immediate help in terms of volunteer time and in-kind food.

In addition to monetary donations, we’ve continued our meal delivery efforts to our frontline workers with the help of one of our favorites, T & J Waffles! Last Thursday, we visited Shoppers in Millersville, Maryland to provide lunch for the hardworking grocery store staff that work around the clock.
Then, on this #GivingTuesday morning, we delivered 50 breakfast meals to MedStar Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore. We thank our healthcare workers who are putting themselves in the path of the coronavirus. Your dedication, commitment and courage deserve our deepest gratitude and admiration!
