CARL SCHMIDT

Residential Screened Porch & Commercial Deck Production Manager

Carl Schmidt, with over 30 years of experience in the home improvement industry, has been an integral part of Fence & Deck Connection for the past 20 years. Serving as the Production Manager for both the Residential and Commercial Divisions, Carl takes immense pride in his work. His standards are exceptionally high, and he consistently goes above and beyond to ensure that projects run smoothly, delivering the very best customer experience possible.

Residing in Pasadena with his wonderful wife, Robin, and their two dachshunds, Badge & Izzy, Carl is not just a dedicated professional but also an avid hometown sports fan. He finds enjoyment in watching both the Ravens and Orioles, adding a touch of passion for local sports to his well-rounded life.

TJ FARLEY

Residential Deck Sr. Project Manager

TJ graduated from Towson University in 2010. He was a Division 1 athlete on Towson’s swim team….Fight on! He began working in the Permit Division at Fence & Deck Connection while attending college and in 2011 he joined the Deck Production Division full time.

Communication is a pivotal component in providing our customers with a seamless project experience and TJ strives to keep our customers informed; answering any questions they may have along the way. From 2011 to 2018 TJ worked primarily as the lead CAD drawer. In 2019 he became a project manager and now serves as the residential deck Sr. Project Manager.

TJ currently lives in Towson with his wife Kate, daughter Eleanor and two dogs Chewy and Bailey. In his spare time he enjoys going to the beach, boating, watching the Orioles/Ravens and spending as much time with his family as he can.

JOHN KILCHENSTEIN

Residential Deck Production Manager

John originally joined the Fence & Deck Connection family in 2014 as a commercial sales representative. He returned to FDC in 2021 to join our residential production team. With over 25 years in the industry, customer service and quality craftsmanship run in his veins. He will comfortably guide you through your project to ensure you have the best experience possible.

A lifelong Maryland resident, John currently lives on the Eastern Shore with his wife and daughter. John also enjoys boating, fishing, and golfing when time permits, is an active member of his church, and is passionate about helping people. He is one of the few remaining “Polar Bear Plungers” (since 1996!), fundraising for Special Olympics every year.

RYAN LAWRENCE

Residential Deck Project Manager

Residing in Damascus, Maryland, Ryan serves as a Project Manager for Fence and Deck Connection, primarily overseeing projects in the state’s western territories. Joining FDC in 2023 after graduating from Towson University in 2022, Ryan brings a strong work ethic and determination shaped by his experience as a two-time state champion wrestler. His commitment to excellence is evident in his ability to ensure positive outcomes and deliver exceptional experiences for our customers.

Outside of his professional pursuits, Ryan finds joy in various activities. He enjoys fishing with his dog, indulging in a round of golf, and spending quality time vacationing with family and friends, whether at the beach or in the mountains. When not immersed in outdoor adventures, you’ll likely find him on the couch passionately cheering for the Steelers and Capitals!

JIMMY SWANN

Residential Deck Project Manager

With over 20 years of experience in building customer relationships and providing exceptional customer service, Jimmy Swann is a seasoned customer first minded manager who takes pride in being an excellent communicator and ensuring that customers’ expectations are not only met, but exceeded.

In his personal life, Jimmy is happily married to his high school sweetheart, Linda. An avid sports fan, he passionately roots for all DC professional teams and the Terps in college sports. Beyond his sports enthusiasm, he is a dedicated dog lover and cherishes spending quality time with his family, especially his God Kids. His commitment to excellence extends from his professional endeavors to his personal relationships, making him a valuable asset to both his team and loved one

SHANE GEORGE

Residential Deck Production Assistant

Shane George, a graduate with a major in graphic design, started his professional journey in the Permit Division at Fence & Deck Connection in 2011. Transitioning to the Deck Production Division in 2014, Shane leverages his design expertise to prepare CAD drawings for various projects. He finds fulfillment in all aspects of this division, taking pleasure in witnessing the final stages of a project come together for the satisfaction of customers.

Residing in Baltimore (“Go Birds!”), Shane’s interests extend beyond the professional realm. In his spare time, he indulges in activities such as lacrosse, motor sports, golf, and relishes the tranquility of being out on the water. Shane George embodies a multifaceted individual whose passion for design and diverse interests contribute to his well-rounded lifestyle.

HILARY HANNON

Residential Deck Production Assistant

Hilary, a Maryland native, has spent her entire life in the state. As the youngest among five siblings, she considers herself blessed with three handsome nephews and three beautiful nieces. Before joining Fence & Deck Connection, Hilary dedicated three years to working with adults with intellectual disabilities. Additionally, she contributed her skills to Bennett’s Curse Haunted House for the many years.

In her leisure time, Hilary finds joy in the company of family and friends. An avid supporter of the Orioles, she enjoys attending their games. Beyond the baseball field, Hilary indulges in the excitement of cruising the Caribbean, adding a touch of adventure to her recreational pursuits. Hilary is not just a professional with diverse experiences but also someone who values quality time with loved ones and embraces a variety of interests.

BOB HANNON

Residential Fence Production Manager

Bob Hannon is a University of Baltimore graduate who has been employed with Fence & Deck Connection since 2001. He learned the industry ropes early as a commercial estimator and was promoted in 2013 to Fencing Production Manager. Bob enjoys the daily operations of the business and ensures that Fence & Deck Connection customers walk away completely satisfied with their project experience from start to finish. He grew up in Arnold and now resides in Grasonville on the Eastern Shore. In his free time, Bob enjoys spending time with his family, visiting various beaches, attending concerts, and cheering on the Orioles. Go O’s!!!

CHERYL TAYLORSON

Residential Fence Scheduling Manager

Cheryl Taylorson joined Fence & Deck Connection in 2014 as the Scheduling Manager in the Fence Production division. With over 25 years of experience in both Property Management and Commercial Landscaping businesses, customer satisfaction is her top priority. In the production stage of your project, Cheryl ensures that any necessary permits are obtained, contacts Miss Utilities, and most importantly, reaches out to the customer to set up the fence installation within the expected timeframe.

Outside of work, Cheryl enjoys spending time with her family and friends, along with her dog Izzy. She looks forward to the football season and loves spending time outdoors.

DANA WINEHOLT

Residential Fence Scheduling Assistant

Dana started with FDC in 2020, and after a brief departure, she returned in 2022 because of her strong affinity for the company. She appreciates the company’s care for its employees, and it shows in her dedication. With several years of customer service and office experience, her main duties include calling in all Miss Utility tickets and scheduling all final inspections. Outside of work, Dana enjoys spending time with her family and two dogs, whether it’s walking in the park or just hanging out at home. Go Ravens! Go Orioles!

STEVEN GHIARDI

Residential Fence Production Manager

Steven Ghiardi is a graduate of Millersville University of PA, earning a degree in business management in 2017. He joined the fence production team at Fence and Deck Connection in July 2017. Steven looks forward to working with his customers and ensuring that they have a first-rate experience. Steve played three years of college baseball, and has a passion for sports. He enjoys watching games with family and friends whenever he can. Go Skins!

BILLY WOLFE

Residential Fence Production Manager

Billy Wolfe has been in the Fencing and Building Industry for over 30 years, with experience in Sales, Purchasing, and Installation. His goal has remained steadfast: to ensure that every customer has an experience of excellence. When not working, Billy enjoys spending time with his 12 grandchildren, and they keep him pretty busy.

FRANCISCO CHACON

Residential Fence Production Manager

Francisco Chacon joined Fence & Deck Connection as a Production Manager in 2018. His goals when working on client projects include ensuring quality, providing excellent customer care, and optimizing efficiency.

With a background spanning over 25 years in management, production, and fieldwork, Francisco brings valuable experience to the team. Being a part of the Fence & Deck Connection team now gives him the opportunity to better serve their customers.

Outside of work, Francisco enjoys spending time with his family, including his three lovely children Coralys, Yary, and Junior, his wonderful grandchild Adrian, and his beautiful wife Erika. They also share a passion for travel.

MIKE SLAGLE

Commercial & Residential Production Manager

With a career spanning four decades in the fence industry, Mike Slagle brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the field. Having joined Fence & Deck Connection in 2019, Mike has dedicated his professional journey to ensuring customer satisfaction remains his top priority.

Beyond the world of fences, Mike treasures a fulfilling personal life, having been happily married for 41 years and blessed with three children and six grandchildren. Outside of work, he finds joy in the simple pleasures of life; particularly relishing moments spent grilling and chilling with both family and friends. Mike is not just a seasoned professional in the fence industry but a committed individual who values both professional excellence and the warmth of personal connections.

WILLIAM LIGHTHOUSE

Residential Fence Production Manager

William Lighthouse joined the Fence & Deck Connection team in 2022. He has worked in home improvement production since 2007 and earned a degree in science from the University of Maryland. In addition to fencing, he also has experience with flooring, windows, exterior doors, and bathroom projects. His philosophy is that the project is only complete when the customer is completely satisfied with the end result.

Originally from Florida, William relocated to Maryland in 2014 and resides in the suburbs of Annapolis with his family. In his free time, William enjoys traveling, visiting different water parks, beaches, and museums in the region. He is also a supporter of Orlando City SC in Major League Soccer. Vamos Orlando!

JOEL GARVIN

Service Manager

Joel Garvin has been actively involved in the fence and deck industry since 1992. Beginning his career as a laborer straight out of high school, he gradually ascended to the role of a crew leader, accumulating a comprehensive understanding of installation processes over a decade of managing installation crews. Transitioning to the position of yard manager, Joel assumed responsibilities such as ordering materials and ensuring that the crews had the necessary resources to successfully complete their projects.

Later, Joel progressed to the role of service manager, where he engaged with customers to address installation and warranty-related concerns. Subsequently, he ventured into entrepreneurship, establishing his own business that specialized in small jobs and repairs. It was during this period that Joel crossed paths with Jim Rubush and made the decision to become a part of the Fence and Deck Connection Team in 2015.

Since joining Fence and Deck Connection, Joel has devoted his efforts to cultivating and expanding the Service Division. In his capacity as the service manager, he oversees the daily operations of all service crews and the service consultant. Joel manages the scheduling of jobs and repairs, diligently addressing customer concerns. His goal is to foster the growth of his team and impart knowledge to the next generation, ensuring the continued delivery of the highest level of service to customers for years to come.

Proudly residing in Harford County, Joel takes pleasure in spending time with his wife and engaging in activities around his property.

TINA MAGLIANO VAIN

Administrative Assistant

Tina Magliano Vain joined Fence and Deck Connection in February of 2013. She currently serves as the Administrative Assistant for both the Builder and Residential Service Divisions, handling communication of scheduling dates with clients. A dedicated team player, Tina is always ready to assist in any capacity required. Her top priority is ensuring customer satisfaction, and she excels in providing efficient, quick, and friendly service to customers, aiming to make their experience with Fence and Deck Connection as positive as possible.

A lifelong resident of Pasadena, Tina enjoys spending her free time with family and friends. She takes pride in her 24-year-old daughter, Heather, who is her pride and joy. Tina’s passions include cooking and spending time outdoors.

Tina looks forward to ensuring an extremely pleasant experience with Fence and Deck Connection and is proud to be a part of the team at this great company.

BOBBY TUCKER

Senior Service Coordinator

Bobby Tucker is the Senior Service Coordinator with extensive experience in the service division, having been a part of it since its inception. Starting as a crew leader, Bobby has successfully progressed to his current role, where he plays a crucial role in overseeing day-to-day operations and ensuring the smooth functioning of service crews. Additionally, he actively engages with customers to resolve issues, and is involved in running new installations.

Bobby takes pride in the outstanding work performed by the service crews, aligning with the company’s commitment to excellence. Drawing on years of experience in the Home Improvement industry, where he specialized in various types of custom work, combined with eight years of dedicated service within the company, Bobby brings a wealth of knowledge to his role. His understanding, patience, and confidence enable him to assist customers seamlessly throughout their warranty or installation processes, ensuring they receive the best possible service.

In his leisure time, Bobby finds joy in being with his family, indulging in cooking, and spending quality time at his residence in Millersville.

JARED MASON

Services Consultant

Jared Mason joined Fence and Deck Connection as a Service Consultant for the Fence Service Division in the spring of 2021. Before joining the team, he served as a Project Manager for a small construction company, showcasing his expertise in the field. A Maryland resident for most of his life, Jared currently resides in Odenton. Beyond his professional endeavors, he finds joy in various outdoor activities such as hiking, exploring nature, and traveling. An enthusiast of concerts, sports, and cooking, Jared values his time spent with family and friends. His diverse interests and commitment to excellence make him a valuable member of the Fence and Deck Connection team.

JAMIE CUTLER

Service Consultant

Being involved in the fencing industry for nearly 30 years, Jamie brings a lot of knowledge and expertise to the table. Jamie started with Fence and Deck Connection in 2008 as a subcontractor, before transitioning to the service division as a crew leader and now a service consultant.

Outside of work, Jamie enjoys spending time with his family camping, hunting and fishing.

CONNOR WALLACE

Service Consultant

Connor Wallace joined Fence and Deck Connection in 2021. Prior to joining FDC, he ran his own landscaping business. Connor has a natural ability to work on things and enjoys being around people. Connor started as a laborer and has worked his way up to a Service Technician and into his current role as a Project Manager/Service Consultant.

Connor enjoys the service side of the fence and deck business and tries to provide a high level of service to the customers. In his free time, Connor enjoys the outdoors. As a lifelong resident of the Eastern Shore, he spends his time fishing, boating, hunting, and spending time with family.
