Recently we had a 6' wooden privacy fence installed around the perimeters of our backyard with decorative metal gates and railings. We initially discussed the fencing style, cost, and procedures for installation with Kevin Bullion, Sales Consultant and Project Manager. Kevin made several visits to our property to discuss all phases of the project with us and answer all questions that occurred during the planning process. He was always pleasant and professional during these visits, providing the assurance that we needed to move forward with a contract and timeline.
About 6 weeks after we signed a contract to have the work scheduled, an installation crew arrived to take down the existing split rail fence and begin installing the posts for the privacy fence. The crew consisted of a job foreman and 2 laborers. Brian, the foreman, explained what the 2 laborers were expecting to accomplish, along with instructions to call him if there were any problems or questions. He left to go to another job site, leaving the remaining laborers to work independently. They worked diligently, non-stop, except when they needed to clarify something with us. They accomplished an amazing amount of work during the first day, and worked the next day until 7:30 at night, trying to finish the rest of the installation, which included the metal rails and gates. The temperature had dropped to the 30's and there was a cold wind, as well, but the Fence and Deck crew, which now included their supervisor, continued to work until they were 99% finished. The next week these same workers promptly returned to complete a few adjustments on the metal gates, followed by their job supervisor, Brian, who verified that our fencing project was installed to our satisfaction.
We are definitely pleased with all aspects our fence - the appearance, the quality, and the workmanship. Fence & Deck is a wonderful company, which is represented by honest, ethical employees from management to labor. They take great pride in providing quality materials and quality job production. We highly recommend this company for any intended fencing projects.

Thanks to everyone at Fence and Deck connection for a superb job! We were referred to Fence and Deck by a friend who also used them for their fence. From the first initial contact to the follow up after installation, everyone at Fence and Deck was professional, courteous and responsive! Our consultant, Steven Nehus did an excellent job guiding me throughout the process and was very kind, and professional. He provided lots of helpful, clear and straight forward information about the fencing types, installation process and pricing. Not once did we feel pressured or coerced in our selection process. In addition, Steven and the staff were very patient with our HOA approval process, and provided me with the necessary documentation as needed and permits in a timely fashion. Steven and the other staff responded quickly to my emails and calls. The day of installation was quick, efficient and painless! The crew was professional and our yard was spotless after the install-it was as if our fence appeared out of thin air! I also appreciated the follow up we received to ensure everything was to our liking. Overall we had a lovely experience with Fence and Deck and our expectations were exceeded. Fence installation went very smoothly, and even took less time than estimated. Crew showed up when scheduled, took down the old fence, and proceeded to install new fence without any delays. Debris was cleaned up and hauled away. Someone came out a couple of days later and inspected the fence to make sure it had been installed properly, and left a check sheet indicating a satisfactory install. Work was done promptly, in good order, and the price was very competitive. All steps, from initial consultation with Mr. King, to finished product, were handled in a professional manner. Good company to do business with.

I will give you a short version of the good, the bad and the ugly.
The good: Your sale price beat the competition by a significant amount. You worked very patiently with my neighbor, who sweated all the details redundantly. The work was completed very quickly once all our paperwork was in order. The warranty is very good.
The bad: I was mowing my lawn a few days ago and was very fortunate to see two 10 packs of nails in the fall lawn before I ran them over with the mower. I can only assume that these were from the installer's nail guns.
The ugly: There is no ugly. The fence looks great

Well it was done quickly and without a lot of headache on my part.

I was very happy with how our fencing project turned out. From the project start to planning/marking out the size and location of the fence to the actual construction, everything went very smoothly and was communicated well. I want to thank you again for coming out to re-position the marker flags a few days before the fence construction to comply with HOA requirements. The fencing work crew did an incredible job to get all of the work completed in a single day as well and should be commended. Fence and Deck Connection truly did exceed my expectations. From the very beginning when I first contacted your office and was put in touch with you - to the final beautiful and well-crafted Trex deck - I had nothing but an outstanding experience with your company. I appreciated the time you took with me at the outset of the project to explain in detail the differences between a regular wood deck, and one constructed with Trex. I was also very happy with the many choices of colors and textures of Trex open to me.
Once the project was underway, I was very appreciative of the communication and updates I received from Carl Schmidt and T.J. Farley. They always let me know if there was a possibility of a slight delay due to all of the rain we'd been getting, or the "challenges" being posed by a no-show of a PG County inspector. I was always kept in the loop.
Last but certainly not least, Jose (sorry - I can't remember his last name) and his crew did outstanding work. They were all a pleasure to deal with. Not only did they build a beautiful deck, but they left my yard very clean, and with grass planted where the heavy equipment had made some impressions.
My friends and family and I are so impressed with the final results. My sister who lives in Virginia wants to have a similar deck built - but was sorry to hear that Fence and Deck Connection doesn't do work in Virginia. (At least I don't think so?) Needless to say, I will be referring my friends and family from Maryland to Fence and Deck Connection with my highest recommendation.

In 2008, I solicited proposals from five companies to build a fence and deck at my home. Hands down, the representative from the Fence and Deck Connection was the best. He asked me what I was looking for, as opposed to others that pushed their own designs. He took the time to discuss the nuances of my designs for each project and then offered design suggestions for each project. The difference was that when he offered a suggestion he was able to back it up with experience and photos of what the finished product would look like....!
After years of maintenance free enjoyment (Simply pressure wash each year!) of my synthetic fence and deck, I encountered a minor issue with a couple of deck boards. I called and asked if the issue could be addressed to coincide with the exterior painting of my house? In a few seconds, I was on the line with a Fence and Deck representative that listened to my issue and immediately made arrangements to have a work crew come out and remove the damaged deck boards to allow the painters to begin their work. Once the painters were finished, I made another call and Joel scheduled a crew to replace the damaged boards.
Please keep in mind this all occurred during peak project season for the Fence and Deck Connection and other contractors. I had a tremendous amount of anxiety as I scheduled my summer home improvement projects. The folks at the Fence and Deck Connection truly put me at ease...... They were extremely professional from start to finish; explaining what to expect and when to expect it!
For anyone that is on "the fence" when it comes to selecting the right company for their project? Look no further, the folks at the Fence and Deck Connection are the professionals you are looking for! I would like to thank Fence and Deck Connection for the incredible job they did with our fence. We had several ideas of what we might want, but after meeting with Brian Hannon our decision became so clear. He answered all of our questions and discussed the options so we were able to make that clear decision.
We added a 6' white vinyl privacy fence along the back and down part of the sides and continued with the same white vinyl picket to the street and across the front. The recommendation of the gate over the driveway is perfect.
The installation was flawless...they fenced an acre in less than four full days. The professionalism of the crew was outstanding. My wife and I would highly recommend Fence & Deck Connection to build your deck. You often read to get at least three quotes when looking to have any work on your home done, and Fence & Deck Connection was the first company we met with. Brian came over to our house at a convenient time and walked us through deck materials, options, and the building process. Brian helped us hone in on the Trex Transcend line of products based on our ideas of what we wanted the deck to look like (wood), what time of maintenance we wanted (hardly any), and our concerns regarding warranty for the materials and work. He also noticed I was active duty based on pictures walking in our home and offered a military discount on top of their promotion for that month! Just another example of going the extra mile, he even called the county office on our behalf to verify the maximum sized deck we could build on our property. While he encouraged us to shop around, he also let us know that he was available to answer any questions as we learned more about the process of building a deck. Suffice to say, we met with others but knew that Fence & Deck Connection was the right choice to build our deck.
Over the course of the next few weeks, Brian was really patient with pricing out different options for our deck, sending us pictures of the options we were considering, and meeting with us at their showroom outside of Fence & Deck Connection office hours so we could see the actual floor boards instead of the small samples he had on hand for our initial appointment. The showroom also had many options to see in person, so it helped us finalize our choices.
Once we got the okay from the county and our HOA, the building process went smooth over the span of 3 days. Another testament to Fence & Deck Connection "making it right," when we saw the post caps that were installed didn't match what we envisioned, Carl worked quickly get a better idea of what we wanted and found post caps that matched our description. He put in a rush order to get them delivered and had them installed by the weekend! All in all, I'm glad we chose Fence & Deck connection, have no doubt they'll stand behind their warranty, and would definitely encourage others to at least meet with them if shopping around for a deck.

The crew was exceptional in checking with me during the installation that took all of Thursday through 9:30 that night and then due to inclement weather had to come back on Saturday morning to finish the job. It would have been nice to know they were showing up at 7:30 that Saturday, but with the weather being so unpredictable, I completely understand why they wanted to get it finished during the short dry window! The manager also added two slats to bottom of each gate because the netting was just too flimsy to support a dog from getting out, and I really appreciated the extra effort made to please the customer throughout the entire project!! Their workmanship was very good and they cleaned up very well, especially again given the inclement weather and wet lawn and soil they had to deal with! As it turns out, we ended up rescuing a puppy on Sunday, so everything worked out just perfectly!!! Can't Thank You and Your Team enough and will highly recommend you to anyone needing your services.

We would particularly like to thank Dave Dean for his procurement of siding that was needed to replace pieces damaged during the demolition of the old deck where the deck had been bolted into the siding. Our experience from start to finish was top notch service. From our initial meeting with the sales rep, Andrew, to the laying of the final board with our construction crew, we were thoroughly impressed with the professionalism of everyone at Fence and Deck Connection. We had no problems going through the initial estimate process, but the enjoyable part was going to their Annapolis showroom and actually seeing the products available. Another fun aspect was creating our "3D model" at the showroom and getting a feel of how the project would come together. They stayed true to the estimated time frame for completion which was great with trying to juggle day to day life.
We had a new construction home and the final asphalt pavement was happening the same time the deck was being scheduled to be completed. We were trying to coordinate so heavy delivery trucks were not going to deliver materials on the new driveway, but were informed that it is company standard to deliver on the street/shoulder and have the crew hand carry materials to the site. We were very impressed by this and it just made us feel even more reassured about who we picked. We plan on doing a fence in the next couple of months and would not go with any other company besides Fence and Deck Connection. We will definitely refer this company to our friends and family for any services they would need.

The fence is beautiful and solid and the experience was hassle free from start to finish. Easiest and best experience yet with any contractor I've used since moving into the new house. Dave, our salesman, made time for us within 24 hours of my initial call. He was prompt and prepared and showed up at 7AM on bitter, wintry day. He gave us a thorough explanation of options and pros/cons and explained the process. Then Dave sat down and prepared a professional, detailed computerized quote on the spot. I haven't seen anything like it from any other contractors. In fact, your entire process surpasses all others.
Our in-office contact at FDC was also wonderful. She was patient with my questions and phone calls and ensured that everything went smoothly with the scheduling department. She even pulled some strings after a deposit mix-up and she got us moved up in the schedule. She's a keeper! Every office needs someone like her.
Finally, on the scheduled date, the crew showed up and spent the day installing a beautiful fence. They did an excellent job cleaning up. I cannot comment on the production manager's part as he was sitting in his truck the times I saw him.
After installation, a minor issue with a sagging gate was handled promptly. Several neighbors have complimented us on our beautiful fence.

The deck turned out to be a much bigger job and the crew was exceptional as they strived for excellence down to the smallest details.
After the contract was completed and the bill paid, I noticed one loose board. I called the Fence and Deck Connection about the concern. They immediately sent a crew who re-fastened the board and inspected the rest of the deck, all at no additional cost to us. To me, it was a sign of conscientiousness and a great work ethic.
In 2015, my wife and I wanted another fence installed, so we again contacted the Fence and Deck Connection. Nothing has changed. They even replaced a wood fence support from the original installation that had warped at no additional cost to us.

Our experience with the Fence Deck team was very positive. It started off with an informative "walk-through" with you around the property providing us with all the details necessary to make our decision. The only snag in our timeline was due to waiting on a surveyor Fence Deck contracts out to measure our formal property lines prior to the installation. With the holidays and all the rain mixed in during this time frame, it took 4 weeks to get someone out to our property. My suggestion for this issue would be to have more surveyors on call during times of high demand / low supply. But once that issue was solved, it was back to a timely meeting with you to finalize the drawing, and the following day the installation crew was on scene racing against time to get it done before the blizzard started in the afternoon. I can't thank those guys enough for working so hard, so fast, with quality results to get my yard enclosed completely so our dog could be let out in the snow much easier. They finished the job just as the snow started to fall and everything worked out. We are already looking forward to working with you guys again for a deck install next fall/winter!

In 2015, my wife and I wanted another fence installed, so we again contacted the Fence and Deck Connection. Nothing has changed. They even replaced a wood fence support from the original installation that had warped at no additional cost to us.
The Fence and Deck Connection has been a wonderful company. They receive our highest compliments and we would recommend them to anyone.

I know this is a little late getting to you but I really wanted to respond. This is our second fencing project with Fence & Deck Connection and we had no reservations about calling in Fence & Deck Connection this time. We had some unique requirements to accommodate our family dog boarding business which included building a small pen inside of the fenced perimeter. The salesman helped us pick the right products for each part of the project, ensuring the best aesthetics and cost. We were confident when he left to prepare the estimate for the work that we were all envisioning the same finished product.
When the crew arrived the day we were getting the fence built, they were polite, timely and professional. They were conscientious of our neighbors sensitivity about the new fence. They gladly helped to move some debris that straddled the fence line. They listened to our concerns about the fence being as flush with the ground as possible to prevent dogs in our care escaping from underneath. At every key phase in the project they engaged us to ensure that everything was to our satisfaction. They took a lot of pride in a job well done and it shows.
Finally, I wanted to thank Fence & Deck for patching a hole in the fence just before Christmas. The early present was very much appreciated.

The sales representative Mr. King from Fence and Deck Connection was very professional and knowledgeable while at the same time very personal. Mr. King made the estimate process and contract process very smooth and painless. Mr. King answered all of our questions and kept us abreast of where in the process we were in having the deck process started.
The production manager updated us every other day on what step our deck plans we were in and also the status of our permits for the deck. During the building of the deck he called every day to ensure his crew was meeting our expectations and if we happened to have any questions.
The crew were very friendly and professional answering any questions or concerns that we may have had at the time. The crew cleaned up their work area daily and at the end of the job ensured all trash and materials were policed up and the area was to standard.
Overall, we were very pleased with Fence and Deck Connections professionalism, politeness, customer service, and workmanship. We would definitely recommend Fence and Deck Connection to friends and family.

Our project was exceptional. The resurfacing on the deck and enclosing the screened porch has been exceptional. We no longer have to clean the screen porch every 2 weeks as the windows keep the debris out.Additionally, we have been able to cool the space to a comfortable 70 degrees when the outside temperature is over 90 and heat it to 65 degrees when the outside temperature is 30. It has essentially added a room to the house. We held my daughters graduation party in the space in December of this year. Excellent! Thanks for the great install and end product!

Fence & Deck connection did a great job with my fence, I like how fast they came out for the estimate and the rate was one of the most reasonable rates I found in the area, The workers was very quick and did not leave any extra materials. I would refer Fence & Deck Connection to anyone looking for a nice reasonable price fence.

Hello Carl & Tracy:
I've missed our nearly daily e-mails (0│+), but I'm sure you've had plenty of other customers keeping you very busy.
My wife and I cannot thank you both, and the entire team at Fence & Deck Connection, for the incredibly nice room you built onto our home. We have thoroughly enjoyed it and have received so many compliments on the work. We have recommended FDC to several folks, but I guess as with most large investments - it may be a while before you hear from them.
We also want to thank Tracy for doing an OUTSTANDING job at what he does. That is to 'listen' to what the customers believe they want, offer great suggestions based on years of experience, and then establish a plan. Clearly what we thought we wanted in the beginning, was not what we really wanted in the end. And Tracy, utilizing his valuable skills, was able to discern what we really needed and wanted. In the end, after listening to Tracy's advice, we have exactly what we 'really' wanted. It's a beautiful and very functional addition to the home.
But it doesn't end there, because it was Carl who took the vision of Tracy and put it to paper. And, then, eventually into a beautiful reality. I don't think there would be any question that CARL SCHMIDT is the genius behind the construction part of every project. We sincerely appreciate Carl's patience and attention to detail. Not to mention his management skills with each phase of the construction.
Subsequent to both of you last visiting the house, a patio has been built under the addition and we had major work completed in the back yard. This work included building a retention wall, importing 400 tons of soil and some landscaping. Hopefully in another couple of months we'll some beautiful green grass on gentle slopes instead of steep cliffs. 0│+

Everyone involved with our project was professional, knowledgeable and courteous. True craftsmen, not just carpenters.
